Pirates Eye Record and Title Tilt in Valentine’s Clash

Orlando Pirates host Marumo Gallants tomorrow, Saturday 14 February, aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Betway Premiership at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Gauteng.

While Gallants are fighting to escape the bottom of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table, the Buccaneers are chasing history.

Having recently matched the PSL record of ten consecutive home wins, a victory tomorrow would see Pirates set a new benchmark of eleven. However, discipline is vital; three key players risk suspension for the upcoming Mamelodi Sundowns fixture if booked.

The afternoon will also feature a performance by amapiano star Njelic to mark the romantic occasion. Beyond the music, the focus remains on Pirates’ clinical form. Former player Edelbert Dinha believes the squad finally has the quality to outlast their rivals.

Dinha noted during the pre-match interview, “They have so many good players and a team that can challenge Sundowns pound for pound.”

With a massive gap at the top potentially widening, tomorrow’s result could dictate the title race. If Pirates secure the points and navigate their looming Star and Soweto derbies, the trophy may soon return to Mayfair.
